1. The dashboard is trying to tell you something
Modern cars have sensors watching everything. When a warning light comes on, don't dismiss it. Even an amber engine or ABS light can point to an issue that gets expensive fast if ignored.
2. Odd noises
Squealing brakes, a rattle under acceleration, a clunk over bumps — none of these are normal. Sound changes are often the earliest sign of wear.
3. Fuel economy dropping

Any fresh fluid under your car — oil, coolant, brake fluid — needs looking at. Slow leaks become fast leaks with no warning.
